Sommeren 2022 åpner Norges nye Nasjonalmuseum. Byggingen av det nye Nasjonalmuseet for kunst, arkitektur og design startet opp i 2014. Endelig skal hele Norge få et visningssted for visuell kunst av et helt nytt format!

Men hvordan flytter man egentlig inn i et nytt Nasjonalmuseum? Før dørene kunne åpne for publikum, måtte kinesiske vaser pakkes trygt, enorme statuer flyttes, skjøre tekstiler konserveres, nasjonalskatter fraktes ut i gatene og gjennom byen, og komplekse konstruksjoner bygges. Over 100 000 uvurderlige gjenstander skulle pakkes ned, flyttes og finne sin nye plass. Hva kunne gå galt?

‘Kunsten å flytte’ er historien om menneskene og kunsten bak det som kanskje er Norgeshistoriens største flyttesjau.

Norway’s new National Museum will open in the summer of 2022. Construction of the new National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design began in 2014.

At last, the whole of Norway will have a showcase for visual art of a completely new format! But how do you actually move into a new National Museum?

Before the doors could open to the public, Chinese vases had to be packed safely, huge statues moved, fragile textiles preserved, national treasures transported out into the streets and through the city, and complex constructions built. Over 100,000 priceless artefacts had to be packed, moved and found their new home. What could go wrong?

‘Kunsten å flytte’ (‘The Art of Moving’) is the story of the people and the art behind what is perhaps the largest moving operation in Norwegian history.
